New Zealand Dependent Child Visitor Visa

New Zealand Dependent Child Visitor Visa

Dependent Child Visitor Visa

Parents often want visas for their dependent children. If the children are single, financially dependent on their parents, and within the eligible age, they can be included in their parentโ€™s Visitor Visa application. They may also apply for their own visa based on their relationship to their parent if the parent already has, or is applying for, a temporary visa or is a New Zealand resident or citizen.

The childโ€™s age, the type of visa the parent holds, and the conditions of that visa will decide whether the child should apply for a Dependent Child Student Visa or a Visitor Visa under the temporary visa category. Dependent children cannot apply for a Work Visa.

If the parent is a New Zealand citizen or resident, the child may be able to apply for a Resident Visa under the Dependent Child category, or for a Visitor Visa as the dependent child of a citizen/resident โ€” which allows a stay of up to 9 months.

Dependent children must meet health, character, and funds requirements. If the parent holds an Essential Skills Work Visa, they can support Visitor or Student Visas for their children provided they meet the minimum income requirement.
